The Benefits of Switching to LED Lighting
LED light bulbs have proven to be much more energy efficient than traditional incandescent light bulbs. As a result, any commercial building could save money by upgrading to LED bulbs.
Although they are still slightly more expensive than incandescent bulbs, the upfront cost of LED light bulbs can be recouped in just a few months, thanks to the reduced energy costs they provide. We've calculated the potential savings that could be made for a home replacing all its incandescent light bulbs with energy saving LED bulbs.
Energy Efficient
LED lights are the most energy-efficient form of lighting using very little power they are 10x more efficient at converting energy to light than traditional bulbs. What makes them so efficient is that 80-90% of LED energy is turned into light not heat, incandescent bulbs, by comparison, lose 80% of their energy to heat and require significantly more energy. Consider, 5 watt of power does the same thing for an LED light that 60-watt bulb does for a filament bulb. Alongside the cost savings, switching to LED can dramatically lower your carbon footprint, for example, by replacing a single 60-watt light bulb with an LED results in a reduction of approximately 160kg of CO2 emissions per year. Now imagine that across an entire facility!
LED lights also contain no environmentally hazardous chemicals like mercury, they, therefore, don’t require special handling when they come to the end of their life.
